J|O (J line O) Drawing scores: a collaboration between Órla Bates and Joanna Leah.

Drawing Scores is a collaborative project by Órla Bates and Joanna Leah. We first connected during a residency, discovering a shared passion for drawing, the body, and spatial exploration. Our work has evolved to focus on positioning the body within specific indoor and outdoor environments, creating drawings that explore the interplay between body, tools, and surfaces. Our practice extends beyond the surface, engaging with drawing as a score—drawing inspired by graphic and musical scores, diagrams, and embodied figures. Through this process, our marks become a language, guiding the creation of our drawings as dynamic, interpretive scores.
